ANZAC Day at Club Tamborine - Lest We Forget

This Saturday 25 April, Tamborine Mountain comes together to honour the men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. As the proud home of the Tamborine Mountain RSL Sub-Branch, Club Tamborine is the centre of the community's Anzac Day commemorations- and this year, there's a full day of meaningful tradition to be part of.

The Full Day- Saturday 25 April 2026

The day begins before sunrise with the Dawn Service at 5:00am at the War Memorial, corner of Main Street and Geissmann Road. This is one of the most moving and significant moments of the Anzac Day calendar-quiet, solemn, and deeply Australian.

Following the Dawn Service, the Gunfire Breakfast is held from 5:30am right here at Club Tamborine. Provided by the Tamborine Mountain Lions Club, the gunfire breakfast is its own piece of history - a tradition dating back to the Western Front, where soldiers were served a rum-laced coffee before dawn raids. Today it's milk with a nip of rum, shared among community members in the spirit of remembrance.

At 10:30am the Memorial March forms up adjacent to the Zamia Theatre on Main Street, stepping off at 1030am and marching to the War Memorial. The Anzac Service commences at 11:00am, and members of the community are welcome to lay a wreath at both services.

Lunch and Dinner at Club Tamborine
Our restaurant opens for lunch from 12:00pm and for dinner at 5:30pm serving a special condensed Anzac Day menu. It's the perfect way to father with family and friends.

Two-Up at 1:00pm — An Anzac Day Tradition

From 1:00pm, Club Tamborine will host Two-Up — the iconic Australian gambling game that is only legally played at registered clubs on Anzac Day.

Two-up has been part of Anzac Day since the soldiers themselves played it in the trenches. The spinner tosses two pennies, the crowd calls heads or tails, and for a few hours, an entire community is united by a shared ritual that stretches back over a century. It’s loud, it’s fun, and it’s one of the most authentically Australian things you can do on this day.

All are welcome — members and visitors alike. Come down for an hour or stay all afternoon.

New Trans Tasman Series Dates Locked In

After several delays caused by COVID complications, new dates have been finalised for a much anticipated Trans Tasman Test Series .

The Australian Jackaroos will return to the green for the first time in more than two years from June 4-6 this year, taking on rivals New Zealand at the Gold Coast’s Club Tamborine .

The Jackaroos last competed as a unit at the most recent Trans Tasman series, way back in February 2020.

Queensland’s Club Tamborine Mountain will host the 2022 Trans Tasman in March as the Jackaroos return for their first test series in two years.

From March 8-10, 2022, Australia and New Zealand will do battle just a 37 minute drive from the centre of the Gold Coast in a jam-packed event that will see the complete open sides face off, as well as three para-bowls disciplines.

UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor 3 is a mixed martial arts event that will be shown LIVE at Club Tamborine this Sunday starting at 12pm.

Will McGregor KO Poirier in less than two minutes as he did in 2014? Or will Poirier better his second-round KO against McGregor from 23 ^rd January that same year? However it plays out don’t miss seeing this fight on our multiple screens at Club Tamborine.

Dr John Vance Memorial Day

Club Tamborine Hosts the Inaugural John Vance Memorial Day

The inaugural John Vance Memorial Day at Club Tamborine was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and narrowly missed being cancelled again this year because of the most recent outbreak in Brisbane.

However, on March 28 Dr Vance was finally honoured at the delayed event that was created in his memory and to help raise funds for Queensland Guide Dogs.

Dr Vance and his wife Dawn moved to Tamborine Mountain in 1996 just prior to his retiring because of his sight issues. It was also at this time that he joined the Tamborine Mountain Bowls Club, as he was already playing with Blind Bowlers.

Dr Vance was the president of Blind Bowlers Queensland and then became the president of Australian Blind Bowlers Association, taking the team to England in 2013 for a 10-nation competition in which Australia came second. It was clear that he touched many lives both in the bowling community and in the Tamborine Mountain local community with his kindness, generosity, and determination to leave behind a legacy.

He was an active member of Club Tamborine for 22 years. Barry Chatel was John’s bowling director for two-and-a- half years and in that time, he competed in two national championships with him as well as numerous other events.

John was an active member of the Guide Dogs community for 23 years and an incredible advocate for the blind and low vision community. He was elected as a Guide Dogs Board Director in August 2008 and was also the Chair of the Client Services Liaison Committee and a member of the Volunteer Peer Support Program. He passionately advocated on issues such as disability parking access for Queenslanders and accessibility issues on the Queensland Rail network.

He also assisted in the training of staff to ensure they could best help people with low or no vision. He was recognised for his enormous ongoing contribution by being awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2014 for services to the blind and vision impaired.

In November 2011, John was matched with Guide Dog Vogue who became his steadfast and loyal companion. The CEO of Queensland Guide Dogs who attended the Memorial Day, delighted everyone by bringing along the wonderful Vogue. In a touching moment, Vogue made a direct path towards Mrs Vance, something that brought tears to most of the onlookers.

BOWLS IS BACK!!!!!

This year is going to be huge for bowls on the mountain. With social bowls and tournaments all year round. Our greens have had a major makeover and are ready for action. If you are a bowler I encourage you to come down and check it out. Look for upcoming events and regular social games weekly. Any enquiries come on down and have a yarn.

Music Trivia

Join us at Club Tamborine on Friday 25th October for music trivia!!

The theme for the night is 'BEST OF THE 70'S'! Come along dressed in your best 70's inspired outfit for a fun night of music trivia questions! There will be a prize for best dressed!

Arrive at Club Tamborine from 6:30pm to register your team, and get settled for a 7:30pm start. Please note, that our regular Friday night raffles will be drawn at 7:00pm, followed by our members draw at 7:30pm.

Our restaurant will be open for dinner from 5:30pm - 8:00pm, with bookings essential.

Music trivia is free to play, however bookings are essential on the night as seating is limited. Please call the club on 5545 1308 to talk with our friendly staff and reserve your spot now!
